About Otter
Sign inOtter is a planner designed for how neurodivergent brains work. Instead of overdue reminders, never-ending lists, and pings that cause stress, you get to shape your day to work for you.
Your priorities and capacity become the filter. Hard deadlines and appointments show up in order, to help you keep them at the forefront. Your daily routines can be broken apart, so you manage one part of the day, one step of the process at a time. A date on a task is aspirational unless you mark it a hard deadline. If you set a date and miss it, nothing turns red: you can move the date, drop it so the task waits in Whenever, or just let it go for now.
You get a focused view of Today, with tomorrow available as a preview. Your calendar shows everything as far out as you’d like, so Today can stay focused and achievable.
One feature to try is breaking a task into parts. It can help break down more complex tasks into manageable chunks in a variety of scenarios. For example:
- A daily routine. “Morning” with meds, shower, and breakfast as its steps, repeating daily. The checklist starts fresh every day.
- A menu of chores. List ten available chores, and call it done after any three. Each day you choose which ones.
- An appointment with its prep. The dentist at 4:45, with a place, how long, and “find the letter” and “bus card” as the checklist underneath.
- A project with multiple steps. List the goal, then break down the steps: “Science fair” with pick a topic, find three sources, build the model, write it up. Every step sits on the card in order, so you can take them one at a time without losing sight of the whole.
- A grocery list. Eight lines and no date, so it waits in Whenever. Check things off as you get them.
